Abstract

The vestibular function in infants between 1 and 12 months of age was tested using a manual rotatory technique. Nystagmus during rotation (perrotatory) was present in all alert infants tested. Nystagmus after rotation, which was present in all infants between 1 and 5 months of age, occurred in only 2 of the 12 infants older than 6 months.
