Abstract

Decorating homes with beautiful plants is a trend among today’s people, and the number of individuals purchasing indoor plants is rising daily. Though everyone has a busy schedule these days, keeping indoor plants at home is a hobby for many people and we know that keeping indoor plants at home is also good for our health but it takes a lot of time to care for the plants. Sometimes growing indoor plants presents many challenges for people because they are tough to care for and may die for unknown reasons. So we are proposing a solution to this problem through this project utilizing NodeMCU (ESP8266). This solution seeks to provide an automated system for the purposes of plant’s health factors monitoring and helps to track them. It allows one to gather information of environmental factors which effects on their plants including the temperature and humidity measure and the moisture level in the soil. The outputs of sensors (Temperature humidity sensor, Soil Moisture Sensor) are used to monitor the surrounding environment of the plants, and these data are collected via an Android-based mobile application (BLYNK). All the gathered information is then uploaded to a cloud platform (ThingSpeak) which shows the graphs and measures of all the factors which is easily understandable for the user. Since the data is shared, it is possible to access updates on atmospheric variables including temperature, humidity, and soil moisture from any location in the world where the internet is accessible. In addition to this, the user will get the notifications from the BLYNK App when the plant will need water and there is a water pump connected with the system which can be turned on or off as per the given notification about the need of water in the plants. This is how the user can water the plants as per the requirement and can take care of the health factors of the plants. So undoubtedly this is a great approach to put your plant-related worries to rest even when you are away from home.
