Abstract

Some consequences based upon the Mandelstam representation and the unitarity condition are examined. Conditions for the validity of the Mandelstam representation are given, and the question of the analytic continuation of the scattering phase-shifts into the complex angular momentum are investigated. As an application, a theorem which is an obvious generalization of results of Froissart and of Goebel about the high-energy behavior of the total cross section is given.
