Abstract

Abstract Release doubled the diameter growth of white oak (Quercus alba L.) for 20 years after treatment. Pole-size trees released and pruned grew 10 percent less than those released only. The larger trees, especially those that were growing most rapidly prior to release, increased in diameter most rapidly during the 20-year period.
