Abstract

The objective of this study was an examination of the neutron characteristics of a two (or more) section blanket arrangement with unidirectional neutron coupling between the sections. From a solution to the equation for the multiplication factor in the coupled system, the transmutational efficiency for a two, three, and four blanket arrangement was calculated and then evaluated with unidirectional coupling (k{sub 12} = 0). It was found that the multiple-section blanket structure had significant advantages with unidirectional coupling.
