Abstract

Objective: C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is a specific activator for the particulate (p) guanylyl cyclase (GC)-coupled natriuretic peptide receptor-B (NPR-B) in the heart. Nitric oxide (NO) is an endogenous activator for sGC activity. However, the relationship between CNP and NO in the regulation of atrial function has not yet been clearly defined. The aim of the present study was to define whether CNP regulates NO production in beating rabbit atria. Methods: Experiments were performed in perfused beating rabbit left atria.
