Abstract

The Regge-Mueller description is applied to the inclusive electroproduction of positive and negative pions with proton and neutron targets. We show that in the photon framentation region if there is an excess of positive pion production over the negative pion production with a proton target, then there is also an excess of positive pion production over the negative pion production with neutron target. Predictions of the x-distributions of the inclusive cross sections with the neutron target calculated from the proton target data are in good agreement with the experimental results. Following the argument in duality, we also analyse the data using the triple-Regge formula. We find that the contribution of the pion pole is important even at large value of q 2.
