Abstract
Objectives: Valve sparing root replacement techniques are attractive, the type of the procedure is still under discussion regarding root stabilisation and leaflet stress. The native root is composed of three straight commissural pillars between the ventriculo-aortic and sinotubular junction. This shape is not entirely imitated by the dePaulis root prosthesis. Therefore a more physiological designed root prosthesis was developed.
