Abstract

This study's objectives were to assess the physiological effects of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis extract on cancer cells and to use MTT and qPCR to identify the extract's in vitro induction of apoptosis and suppression of cell proliferation in HepG2 hepatoma cells. The findings shown that while Gardenia jasminoides Ellis is non-toxic to L02 normal liver cells and has no effect on their proliferation, it can suppress the growth of HepG2 cells. The importance of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis extract as a possible anticancer medication is made clear by this result. In the meantime, Gardenia jasminoides Ellis increases the production of caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 in HepG2 cells, which in turn encourages cancer cells to undergo apoptosis. A natural remedy with several bioactive components, gardenia jasminoides also has potent anti-cancer properties.
