Abstract
This article memorializes the tragic death of filmmaker, teacher, writer, community builder and activist Helen Hill (1970–2007). A New Orleans-based artist, Hill had much of her life's work damaged or destroyed in the floods following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The article reports on the recent preservation and restoration of her films and the creation of the Helen Hill Collection at the Harvard Film Archive. A filmography of her known works is appended.
