IN MEMORIAM: STEVEN ZUCKER 1949–2019 Photo courtesy of JHU Mathematics Steven Zucker—Professor of Mathematics at the Johns Hopkins University for nearly 35 years, and director of JHU’s Japan-U.S. Mathematics Institute from 2005–2007—had a profound influence on algebraic geometry via his study of L2cohomology and the variation of Hodge structures, and also by virtue of his famous Zucker conjecture, which he formulated in 1980.
