Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the cognitive achievement of students using t he Study Group method on the material of structure and function of plant parts in fourth grade. This classroom action research (CAR) takes descriptive qualitative research method with qualitative approach. The s ubjects in this study were fourth graders of 21 people consisting of 8 male students and 13 female students. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The d ata collection tool s were guidelines for observation, test questions, the questionnaire , and documentation. The research result showed that in the first cycle , the percentage of classical completeness was 61,90%. While on the second cycle, the significance increase d to 90,48%. This was an increase in cognitive achievement of students from the first cycle to the second cycle of 28,58%.

Summary
Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan peneliti adalah lembar observasi, soal tes, dan lembar wawancara. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data yang diperoleh dari observasi,tes, dan wawancara. Data yang diperoleh adalah hasil observasi guru dan siswa, hasil wawancara guru dan siswa, hasil belajar kognitif siswa melalui soal tes. Observasi pada penelitian tindakan mempunyai fungsi mendokumentasi implikasi tindakan yang diberikan kepada subjek (Darmadi, 2011: 247).Hasil yang diamati meliputi kegiatan guru dalam memberikan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran The Study Group.Hasil observasi guru dalam setiap siklus dan pertemuan dapat dilihat pada Tabel 1. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, pengembangan metode pembelajaran The Study Group dapat mewujudkan pembelajaran yang aktif, kreatif, efektif dan menyenangkan.Hasil observasi siswa pada setiap siklus menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas siswa berlangsung dengan baik, dan mengalami peningkatan. Pada siklus I pertemuan I, siswa tidak antusias ketika Guru memasuki kelas dan tidak mendengarkan dengan baik tentang materi yang telah dijelaskan. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, perolehan nilai pada siklus I dapat dilihat pada Tabel 3
