Abstract
A commercial balloon-borne sun-seeker has been improved in several ways. Power consumption is reduced by using transistorized circuits and solid state switches instead of tubes and magnetic clutches. Silicon cells used as fine pointing sensors are moved near the entrance slit of the spectrometer to eliminate the effects of optical misalignment. Operational amplifiers provide weighted sums of the error signals for pointing. The gains of the servo system are controllable by radio command.
