Abstract

Nowadays industries are requiring tougher structure, low weight as well as sustainable materials as compared to existing materials. New materials like hybrid composite materials are in attention to industrial applications. Recent research work indicates that the hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer composites have many applications in different areas because; it has good mechanical properties like specific strength, low weight, and high resistance to corrosion. Hybrid composite laminates were manufactured by different fibers like natural and synthetic fiber, fiber-metal composites and filler particles based composites for improvement in mechanical properties. The hybridization of composites is one of the most efficient ways of enhancing the mechanical properties of composite material laminates. This review was carried out to study the effect of hybrid composites for improvement in mechanical properties and their suitability for different applications.
