Abstract

The value of Bs (the maximum shielded magnetic flux density) was shown to be improved by the superposition of a four-layered permalloy cylinder over a BPSCCO (Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O) cylinder, termed the four- layered superimposed cylinder. The value of Bs for the four-layered superimposed cylinder was found to be about 7.4 times greater than that for a single-BPSCCO cylinder, and was analyzed by using several different models. It was also found that experimental values of Bs agree well with the theoretical values. The results confirm that the value of Bs is an important criterion for the design of an effective magnetic shielding for large chambers.
