Abstract

The cut tobacco in the rotational table in vibrating feeder in a pneumatic feeding system is liable to be segregated because of vibration, which results in longer suction time and negatively affects the consistence of cigarette quality. Therefore, the feeder's suction inlet was improved:1) replacing the fixed suction inlet with a suspensible suction inlet; 2) removing the speed reducing motor from the vibrating system to disable the vibration function of the rotational table. After improving, the problem of cut tobacco segregation was well solved, the coefficient of variance of short strands proportion in feeding airlock reduced by 0.23; suction time shortened by 13s; tobacco loss from cigarette end decreased by 2.41 mg/cig. standard deviations of pressure drop and cigarette weight dropped by 51.2 Pa and 5.5 mg/cig. respectively. The test results showed that the structure of cut tobacco pneumatically fed to the cigarette maker was more uniform and cigarette quality was more consistent.
