Abstract

Grating lobes will appear in the airspace observation interval when using the maximum likelihood technique to estimate the elevation angle of low-altitude targets. It will lead to poor performance of angle estimation. In view of this problem, this paper analyzes the reasons for the ambiguity of the maximum likelihood estimation. The methods of frequency diversity are introduced into radar elevation angle estimation. The method collects and utilizes more angle information by transmitting signals of different carrier frequencies, which can significantly improve the angle measurement accuracy. Finally, the computer simulation verifies the correctness and effectiveness of the method.
