Abstract

In this paper we prepare a structure of quantum well (QW) lasers with metal nano-particles (MNPs). The metal nano particles have been embedded under quantum well active layer and we demonstrate that optical gain of laser can be enhanced due to the coupling the waveguide mode in the QW active layers and surface plasmon plariton (SPP) mode around the MNPs. MNPs increased interface distance between metal-dielectric and thus improved surface plasmonic polariton wave influence. We have calculated the laser characteristic for different space between the active layers and the MNPs and then achieved the best structure.
