Abstract

Software engineering is indicative of two vital elements related to software. It deals with the creation and maintenance of actual software. Software engineering research also revolves around the tools to create software, comprehending its nature and usage. Empirical software engineering deals with the empirical observation of software engineering relics and the empirical validation of software engineering theories and assumptions. On the other hand, the selection of an appropriate and user satisfying web service also seems to be quite challenging. Hence, our research work is broadly classified into two bodies of works: empirical software engineering, and web service selection. With the domain of empirical software engineering, we are targetting issues to have improved Software Fault Prediction and Software Effort Estimation. The former area deals with the identification of faults in the software modules using statistical or machine learning methods while the latter concentrates on the quantification of the efforts required for the development of any software.
