Abstract
A simple method has been developed for correcting errors in spacing worm gear teeth, by the use of three worms spaced at 120° intervals around the gear. The accuracy which has been attained by this method is primarily due to the sensitiveness of adjustment of end thrust bearings and the use of a super sensitive dial indicator in locating the positions where lapping should occur. Accuracy in the spacing of the teeth to within 0.0001 inch has been attained. The ease by which lapping can be controlled leads me to believe that even greater accuracy can be attained by this method if need for such accuracy arises.
