Abstract

A series of polycrystalline composites La0.70Ca0.3-xSrxMnO3:mol-%Ag0.2 (LCSMO:Ag, x = 0.00, 0.0165, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, and 0.10) were prepared by sol-gel method using methanol as solvent. The structural, electrical, and magnetic properties were investigated. All of the LCSMO:Ag composites showed orthorhombic perovskite structure with a space group of Pnma. Electrical and magnetic transport properties curve show that both the insulator-metal transition temperature (Tp) and the Curie temperature (TC) increase from 263 K to 250 K correspondingly for LCSMO:Ag (x = 0.00) to 331 K and 302 K, respectively, for LCSMO:Ag (x = 0.10). The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) value reduce from 68.8%·K−1 to 11.2%·K−1 with increase of Sr content. At Sr doping x = 0.07, the value of Tp higher than room temperature (312 K), and the maximum values of TCR reached up to 19.9%·K−1, which is significantly higher than that previously reported.
