Abstract

The article considers the peculiarities of the implementation of webquest educational technology in the process of teaching foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialities under conditions of distance and blended learning. The essence of the concept of digitalization is presented, the main trends in the transition of education and science into digital format to integrate the latest IT solutions in the activities of educational institutions are highlighted. The peculiarities of ICT application are investigated and the advantages of using webquest technologies in distance and blended learning are substantiated. The types of webquests, their main components as well as the stages of their creation are considered. The advantages of using the studied technology in teaching foreign languages are emphasized, as it provides access to authentic resources and is one of the ways of language immersion. The article analyzes the available online services and tools for creating interactive webquests. The experience of using webquest technologies in teaching foreign languages at Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University has been generalized and presented. It has been proved that implementing webquests in classroom activities and independent work of students is a highly effective means of developing communication skills and digital literacy, updating vocabulary and deepening linguistic knowledge. Conclusion about the efficiency of webquest technologies in foreign language classes at non-language institutions of higher education has been made, the expediency of applying this technique for independent work of students has been revealed. The positive impact of the webquest in increasing the motivation of students has been distinguished. Foreign language teachers are encouraged to integrate webquests into curricula for students of non-linguistic specialties.
