Abstract

Background: Significant variation exists in the evaluation and management of patients experiencing a Brief Resolved Unexplained Event (BRUE), erstwhile known as Apparent Life-Threatening Event (ALTE). In May 2016, the AAP published the first Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) specific for patients experiencing BRUE. The CPG provide an approach to evaluation based on risk stratification, as well as management recommendations for the lower-risk infants.
