Abstract

Newborn opiate withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) is a universal dilemma associated with increased hospitalization costs, resources, and length of stay, in addition to family separation due to a NICU admission. Eat, sleep, console (ESC) is an evidence-based model of care that addresses these issues and fosters parental interaction and caregiving. To provide state-of-the-art care and promote optimal maternal-neonatal dyad outcomes, it was imperative to implement ESC.
