Abstract

Mobile IP (MIP) is a standard issued by the IETF to address the disconnection of communication between the mobile devices (MD) and the attachment points in the telecommunication networks such as mobile networks and wireless networks when the devices change their location. When users move, the connection of MD to an access point (AP) is disconnected before it is communicated to a new AP. Protocols for MIP have been developed such as MIPv6, FMIPv6, HMIPv6 and PMIPv6 as the latest protocol. In order to have seamless communication on PMIPv6, the proposed approach of using Detection Device (DD) and Synchronized Packet Simulcast (SPS). SPS is aimed to reduce packet loss on PMIPv6 and DD is used to shorten the time required by MD so as to find nMAG to be contacted. Hence, the MD's connection will not be terminated by the communication of LMA.
