Abstract

In this paper, the Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol is analyzed and implemented on the TinyOS and Crossbow MICA2 hardware platform. The implementation exactly implemented the LEACH protocol architecture. We found the implementation to work properly on both Crossbow MICA2 hardware and TOSSIM, the standard network emulator on the TinyOS platform. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first implementation of the LEACH protocol on a real sensor network. Our implementation proves that LEACH is a promising solution for real world applications on wireless sensor networks.
