Abstract

In managing distant teaching and learning, the most common Learning Management System used nowadays is Google Classroom. This application is considered efficient to support the teaching and learning process. However, unlike regular teaching and learning process in classroom situation, distant teaching and learning process finds some difficulties, either from the teacher or the students’ side. This study aims to describe any obstacles found during the online distant teaching and learning process by online system. This study employs a qualitative approach by using a descriptive survey. This study is conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Merawang during the period of January – February 2020. The data is taken from the students of science major with the total number of 139 students. The data analysis shows that 56.1% students experienced difficulties on the technical problems of handset, network, and internet quota, but they do not have difficulties in using the LMS of Google Classroom in the teaching and learning process of physics subject. During teaching learning process, the respondents experienced some obstacles which are related to interaction between the teacher of students at 5.8%, materials and assignment at 0.7%, and text books at 2.9%. From the result, it is suggested that the teachers must conduct regular analysis upon the obstacles found by the students, so that the obstacles can be well-managed and as consideration in taking final decision for student’s score
