Impacts of COVID-19 and Future Action Plan: A Sociological Perspective

Abstract

Coronavirus or COVID-19 is a disease based on an unknown virus before its origin. The virus has different mutations, and it significantly impacts society and individual and group behaviour in many countries (231 by February 2023). The origin is a dilemma, which heavily spread in China initially. It is a global pandemic that has positive and negative impacts. When compared with the influenza pandemic in 1918, some believe the death toll would have been about 50 to 100 million. COVID-19 has infected 682,533,441 persons and caused 6,819,806 deaths worldwide. The article is aimed at analysing the positive and negative impacts of COVID-19 from a sociological perspective. Also, it has a proposal for the control of the disease and the entire socioeconomic, environmental and political atmosphere in a country while giving more weight to South Asia. The proposed actions are analysed on a short-term, mid-term and long-term basis, and any expert and social worker who is involved in the pandemic control and management process can gain insight into what to do and how to perform their tasks. The article emphasises the importance of sociological analysis in a pandemic situation. Naturally, anyone would think of a pandemic situation negatively due to its emotional, socio-economic, environmental, political, and cultural factors. However, it is also positive due to certain factors that help to reintegrate and reorganize the social system. Especially the pandemic situation is a novel experience since the modern world is highly dependent on modern technology than in the past.
