Abstract

The acceptability of new product is decided by its performance, level of improvement in quality and economy of production. In the present study attempt has been made to create pores in twill woven fabric made from shoddy/wool/PVA blended yarn. The modified yarn was produced by removing a component viz; PVA, by treatment with hot water from blended yarn. A comparative assessment for different properties like bending behavior, air permeability, crease recovery, extensibility, strength and porosity for fabrics made from parent and treated yarn was done. The fabric from treated yarn was found to show significant improvement in bending rigidity, crease recovery, air permeability and extensibility while strength decline marginally.
