Abstract

This study is based on a series of numerical modeling experiments to understand the impact of the Namgang Dam water discharge into the Kangjin Bay (KB). Numerical model performances were tested in terms of various skill analyses, with skill scores for elevation and tidal current over 85 %. The models successfully reproduced the tidal circulation and the response of fresh water input and subsequent dilution of salinity field. The behavior of the fresh water plume in the KB was investigated and analyzed. The different pattern of densitydriven current field was described at tidal phases. The modified tidal ellipse characteristics are estimated as a result of interaction between tidal current and density current.
