Abstract

Impact ionization of the free exciton has been investigated theoretically. The density of ls excitons has been calculated as a function of the drift energy of hot electrons accelerated by an applied electric field, which has been compared with the observed suppression of free exciton luminescence in high-purity n-GaAs.
