Abstract

Recent advances in research on the immune responses of schistosomiasis were reviewed in two aspects including the immune responses induced by different development stages (such as cereariae, eggs, adult worms) in the life cycle of schistosome,as well as the immune responses related to different clinical phases in schistosomiasis (acute or chronic phases). As for the regulation of immune responses in the host infected with schistosomiasis,a lot of progress has been made mainly in the areas such as the cytokines related to regulation of immune responses during acute and chronic schistosomiasis, the lymphocytes and its subsets (or phenotypes) involved in immune regulations, and the regulatory molecules or proteins from cercarial or schistossomula excretion and secretion(ES) antigen preparations,or in vitro cercarial 0-3 h release products (0-3hRP)etc.in schistosomiasis. Key words: Schistosomiasis; Th1T Cytokine; Immune regulation; Innate immune response; Excretion and secretion (ES) antigen; Gene double-deficient mice
