Abstract

Coronary CT-angiography evolved as a valuable tool in the diagnostic work-up of patients after coronary revascularization therapy. With 64-slice or newer generation CT scanners it has a negative predictive value in the range of 98 %. Therefore, it is increasingly used to rule out in-stent restenosis. However, about 10 % to 15 % of stents are not accessible mostly due to motion or metal artifacts. Best results are achieved in stents ≥3 mm having thin stent struts. While the diagnosis of in-stent restenosis is currently based on the direct morphologic assessment of the stent lumen, functional information on the hemodynamic significance of in-stent restenosis will become available with the most recent generation of CT-scanners by means of myocardial perfusion imaging. This review describes technical considerations and summarizes the current evidence for stent imaging by means of coronary CT-angiography.
