Abstract

An image dehazing algorithm using dark channel prior and energy function is proposed in this paper. Image haze removal based on dark channel prior can perform very well. But, it didn't deal with lager-area sky region and brightness objects because dark channel prior is not established in these regions. To solve the problem and enhance the contrast, we restored the hazy image by minimizing an energy function in these regions. The energy function included contrast term and compensation term. It can link the optimal contrast with the transmission. Experimental results showed that such method is feasible to enhance image visibility.
