Abstract
Estimation of DNA content in individual chro- mosomes and their arms was carried out in the primary root meristems of Allium cepa L. var Local, (2n=16) using an Image Analysis System following Feulgen staining. Re- gression analysis revealed that fifth and seventh chromo- somes had higher DNA contents relative to their chromosomal lengths while the 1st, 2nd and 4th chromo- somes had less DNA contents than those expected on the basis of length.
