Abstract
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is defined as continuous or intermittent pain in the lower abdomen or pelvic region that is cyclical or non-cyclical in nature and lasts for six months or longer. CPP presents a major health care challenge due to the various etiologies and complex anatomy. CPP is more common in females with an estimated worldwide prevalence of 2.1 - 24%. Evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of CPP are lacking, therefore clinical interventions can be highly variable. The purpose of this review is to help define what interventional techniques have been studied for CPP and to compare their overall efficacy.
