Abstract

In this paper, uniform Mn(OH) 2 nanocrystals with diameters ∼20 nm and MnCO 3 with diameters ∼60 nm have been obtained through a hydrothermal reduction route. Glycerol and glycol have been used as both reducing reagents of KMnO 4 and stabilizing reagents of as-obtained nanoparticles. Due to their unique d 5 electrons and nanometer sizes, novel magnetic properties could be expected from Mn(OH) 2 and MnCO 3 nanocrystals.
