Abstract

AbstractThe formation of cyclohexene in the hydrogenation of benzene on a ruthenium catalyst has been studied in a slurry reactor. The reaction was performed in an alkaline aqueous phase in a stirred autoclave of stainless steel. The influence of reaction parameters, e.g. hydrogen pressure, alkali concentration, amount of catalyst and temperature was determined. The influence of poisoning of the catalyst by corrosion products is also discussed.
