Abstract
Abstract The intense turbulent diffusion in the water body is one of the features of Lake Baikal, a deep-water, sea-like lake. In this paper we argue that the turbulent mixing of water determines the dynamics of intermediate gaseous nitrogen-containing products, and therefore may be regarded as the limiting factor for Lake Baikal as well as for other ecosystems of the oceanic type.
