Abstract

The hydrocarbon generative capacity is high in the Middle-Upper Yangtze Block, southwest China. However the hydrocarbon cap rocks are severely deformed. Preservation has become key to oil and gas exploration. In this study, by evaluating total dissolved solids of formation water, hot spring temperature, δ13C and δ18O isotopes, and δD and δ18O isotopes of calcite veins and δD and δ18O isotopes of fluid inclusions, the hydrocarbon preservation can be inferred. Hydrocarbon preservation in the southeast is better than that of the northwest.
