Abstract

A simple and mild catalytic protocol has been described using humic acid as a reusable catalyst for the synthesis of phenol in aqueous medium. Humic acid is an inexpensive, non-toxic and easily available high molecular weight polymer. The mentioned catalytic protocol utilizes hydrogen peroxide as a green oxidant and water: isopropanol as solvent which has several advantages like commercially available, cheap and reusable catalyst, high percentage yield, short reaction time, room temperature etc.
