Abstract

This article deals with several problem areas concerning structural issues related to the contemporary social position of the humanities and social sciences, the nature of today’s hegemony and present articulations of critical thinking. The primary focus is on the problems of the higher education system resulting from the Bologna process and the social role and importance of the figure of the public intellectual today, whereas the secondary focus is on connecting these issues with the characteristics of today’s hegemony and the so-called transition.
