Effective leadership and a supportive organizational culture play a crucial role in shaping the quality of nursing care, affecting not only the environment but also nurses’ skills and attitudes. This study explores how various factors related to nurses—such as their competence and attitudes—interact with leadership and organizational culture to impact nursing care and patient satisfaction. We aimed to identify previously overlooked connections that can improve patient outcomes. To conduct this research, we analyzed data from 125 nurses working in inpatient wards at an Islamic Hospital in Indonesia using a cross-sectional design. In August, we gathered information through validated questionnaires and examined the data using SmartPLS 3.2.8 with partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Our results indicate that organizational factors significantly impact nursing practices (p = 0.000) and the quality of nursing care (p = 0.019). Moreover, the work conditions and experiences of nurses were found to greatly influence both the nurses’ competencies (p = 0.000) and the care they provide (p = 0.002). Additionally, factors related to nursing significantly affect both the quality of care (p = 0.004) and patient satisfaction (p = 0.002), with nursing care having a strong positive impact on patient satisfaction (p = 0.000). Interactions among organizational factors, nursing attributes, and care practices, as well as the working conditions of nurses, played significant roles in boosting patient satisfaction (p = 0.039 and p = 0.0016). Leadership, organizational culture, and nurse factors play significant mediating roles in strengthening the relationship between nursing care and patient satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening organizational and nurse-related factors to improve nursing care quality and patient satisfaction.

Along with the increasing of orthopedic disorders incidence, the provision of orthopedic nursing care in Indonesia is also increasing. The Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA) has published nursing care standards as a reference for nurses in providing nursing care and standardizing nursing care terminologies. Standard-based orthopedic nursing care instruments have been developed, but their effectiveness has not been investigated in improving the quality of nursing services and patient safety. This study aimed to identify the effect of the application of 3S-based Orthopedic Nursing Care (3S-ONC) on the quality of nursing services and patient safety. Descriptive quantitative analysis using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest and posttest with control group design, involving 106 respondents (53 control, 53 intervention), recruited by purposive sampling technique. In the intervention group, nurses provided nursing care by applying the 3S-based Orthopedic Nursing Care (3S-ONC) instrument. The study showed that in both groups, most of the nurses were in the early adult category, dominated by female sex and most of them had professional education level. There were significant differences in the quality of nursing services (p 0.046; α 0.05) and patient safety (p 0.000; α 0.05) between the intervention group and the control group after the application of the 3S-ONC instrument. The 3S-ONC instrument can improve the quality of nursing services and the safety of patients with orthopedic disorders in hospitals. The 3S-ONC instrument can be considered for the development of a paper-based or computer-based nursing care documentation system to further improve the quality of nursing services and patient safety in healthcare facilities, especially in hospital.

Introduction: Humanized nursing care refers to a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that seeks to address not only the physical, but also the emotional and psychological needs of the individual during their experience in the health care system. Objective: to describe the relationship between humanized nursing care and immediate postoperative patient satisfaction in Post-Anesthesia Recovery Units. Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out using the articles retrieved from the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scielo databases, in the period between July and August 2024. Filters were used to select articles in Spanish and English. A total of 32 references were selected, which specifically fit the topic in question, excluding those with possible biases in their methods. Development: Humanized nursing care and patient satisfaction are topics of increasing relevance in the health field, especially in hospital settings such as the Post-Anesthesia Recovery Unit (URPA). Patient satisfaction, on the other hand, is a key indicator of the quality of care and is closely related to the patient's perception of the care received. Conclusions: The satisfaction and comfort of patients admitted to surgical and post-anesthesia units depends largely on the preparation provided by the nursing staff, which contributes to their prompt recovery. Better preparation is a pillar for optimal care for all those patients seeking relief after a medical intervention that affects their quality of life

Lately, individualized nursing care and patient satisfaction are important and current issues being discussed. But there is not enough information for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery. The aim of this study was to determine the individualized care perception and satisfaction in nursing care levels in orthopaedic surgery patients. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 156 patients who underwent orthopaedic surgery. Data were collected using the personal information form, the Individualized Care Scale, and the Newcastle Satisfaction With Nursing Scale. The Spearman correlation analysis and descriptive statistics were performed. The mean individualized care and satisfaction with nursing care scores were found to be close to the preset maximum value, and it was determined that an increase in the level of awareness about nursing interventions and the level of perceived individualized care caused an increase in satisfaction levels regarding nursing care. Nurses should recognize the importance of performing individualized care in order to increase the level of satisfaction with nursing care in orthopaedic surgery patients.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the satisfaction of inpatients from the nursing care services they receive and the factors affecting this satisfaction. The study was carried out with 276 inpatients in a public hospital. The data of the study were obtained with a questionnaire consisting of two parts, which included questions about the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants in the first part and the nursing care satisfaction scale in the second part. The Newcastle Nursing Care Satisfaction Scale, developed by Thomas et al. (1996) and validated in Turkish by Uzun (2003), was used to measure nursing care satisfaction. As a result of the research, the average score of the patients receiving service from the nursing care satisfaction scale was found to be 49.80; It was determined that there was a significant relationship between the age and the clinic where the service was received and the nursing care satisfaction score. Nursing care satisfaction, which is one of the factors affecting patient satisfaction, is also one of the main determinants of service satisfaction of patients. In this study, nursing care satisfaction was found to be below the average. For this reason, it is thought and recommended that considering the factors affecting nursing care satisfaction and making improvements to increase satisfaction may be effective in increasing satisfaction with the health institution.

Investigating older acutely ill hospitalized patients' nursing needs and quality of care is paramount, given the growing pressure on nurses to provide increasingly intensive levels of care to a growing older population while at the same time working with reduced staffing levels. The aims of this study were to determine: (1) important aspects of nursing care as perceived by older patients, their family member/carer who observed care during hospitalization, and nurses; (2) satisfaction levels of patients, family/carers and nurses on nursing care received; and (3) mismatches between nursing care priorities and satisfaction with nursing care. Two hundred and thirty-two acutely ill patients aged over 65 years, 99 carers/family members and 90 nurses completed the Caregiving Activities Survey, which measures importance of and satisfaction with various aspects of nursing care. Qualitative data, which qualified responses to survey items, were also obtained from participants. Patients, carers and nurses perceived that carrying out doctors' orders was the most important aspect of nursing care, followed by physical care, psychosocial care and discharge planning. Nurses and carers rated physical care, psychosocial care and discharge planning more highly than patients. Physical care was rated highly by patients in terms of importance, but rated moderately in terms of satisfaction. Carers' and patients' ratings of satisfaction with physical care were lower than nurses' ratings of opportunities to provide it. The importance of discharge planning was rated highly by nurses but all groups were only moderately satisfied with this aspect of care. The findings do not apply to acutely ill older patients with confusion, mental illness or more than early stage dementia. Patients, nurses and family/carers were generally in agreement about the relative importance of particular aspects of nursing care. Nurses may need to communicate more effectively with older patients and their family carers about the particular roles they will play during the patient's hospital episode, the expectations they have of patients in the process of healing and recovery, and the reasons for the actions they take in aiding this process. The findings are useful in making nurses more aware of the expectations and needs of older hospital patients and their carers. They provide evidence for developing both new models of nursing care for this patient group, and nursing education programmes.

The association between individualised nursing care and patient satisfaction has been previously found. However, there is a lack of studies examining this association between individualised care and patient satisfaction in a cross-cultural study. This study examines the association between individualised care and patient satisfaction in a sample of general surgical patients from five European countries. A cross-sectional design and survey method were used to collect data from general surgical patients (N = 1315, response rate 78%) in 72 inpatient wards in 26 general acute hospitals' in 2009 using self-completed questionnaires the Individualised Care Scale and the Patient Satisfaction Scale. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise regression analyses. Surgical patients reported that the care they received was only moderately individualised overall, but individuality was taken into account well in patients' clinical situation and decisional control over care. Patients were satisfied with their care, mostly with the technical aspects of care and least with the information given. There were between-country differences in patients' perceptions of individuality in care and patient satisfaction. A positive correlation between the level of individualised care received and patient satisfaction was found, confirming that individualised nursing care delivery influences patients' satisfaction with care and demonstrating that this quality of care indicator might be able to be used as a predictor of patient satisfaction, one outcome of care. The findings of this study strengthen previous results and further reporting the existence of a relationship and the positive correlation between individualised care and patient satisfaction. The results can inform administrative decisions and policy on introducing nursing approaches to care that would increase patient satisfaction.

Background: Improving communication and collaboration between admitted patients and nurses can improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. Objective: To assess changes in in- patient satisfaction with nursing care and nurse’s communication. Methods: The study was conducted at Debre Markos hospital from October 15 to December 17, 2009 using a quantitative pre and post cross-sectional study design. A total of 392 study subjects were included. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS version 16.0 window. Multivariate logistic analysis was used to identify factors associated with patient satisfaction. Results: The results showed that overall 223(56.0%), 44(25.1%) in pre-intervention and 179(82.5%) in post- intervention were satisfied with in-patient service. There was significant difference in in-patient satisfaction before and after intervention. A total of 170(43.4%) patients, 56(32.0%) before intervention and 114(52.5%) after intervention, claimed that they had good communication with nurses and there was significant difference before and after intervention. Level of intervention, ward, nurses' communication, nurses' age and patient's age were determinants of patient satisfaction. Conclusion: The overall level of patient satisfaction was low and training was found to increase the communication of nurses with their patients. Therefore, in-service trainings on communication should be arranged for nurses by hospitals and the stake holders provide attention to trainings on interpersonal communication in order to increase nurses' communication capacity.
