Abstract

Quality education can be achieved if the teaching process is effective, carried out in a directed manner and based on objectives. The problems that occur in Islamic religious education revolve around problems with learning methodologies that tend to be traditional. The better the student's perception of the teacher's beliefs, the better the psychological condition will be. A good psychological condition will make learning efforts even better, so that satisfactory learning results will be obtained. This type of research is descriptive correlational research. The population for this research is all students of South Sangatta 1 State Middle School, especially those studying Islamic Religious Education. The research study showed that students had positive perceptions regarding the teacher's teaching style in the class, the teacher's teaching style was positive, so that students would be enthusiastic about participating in class learning. However, if students' perceptions of the teacher's teaching methods are negative, so that students feel a lack of enthusiasm for participating in learning, then learning achievement will be less than optimal. Various students explained that if the teaching methods applied were good enough, students could understand the material that had been explained. Teachers always involve students so they are active during the teaching and learning process.
