Abstract

A new narrative, promoted by American Jews for an American audience, must call for engagement with Palestinians as human beings with inherent and inviolable human dignity. A brief overview of the American Jewish role in various social justice movements demonstrates the community’s history of working for justice, especially where oppressed minorities are concerned. A Jewish‐led movement for Palestinian justice must be deeply and thoroughly transpartisan in order to be sustainable and supportable from across the ideological spectrum. And it needs to be rooted in a transcendent Jewish ethical system instead of a more socio‐centric reading of Jewish thought.
