Hospitals in UAE Between Normal and COVID-19 Patients: A Descriptive Study of the Beginning of the Pandemic

Abstract

AbstractThe present report is based on describing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the hospitals in the UAE. Like other nations in the world, the UAE is also hardly hit by this epidemic in terms of public health and the nation’s economy. This sudden emergence of this pandemic created immense pressure on the hospitals, clinics, and healthcare workers. With the exponential rise in the number of infected persons, the healthcare institutions find it overburdened to handle all the patients at a time. The overloading pressure of treating the COVID-19 positive patients by the healthcare professionals has also increased a high risk on their part. Majority of the countries have also lost their healthcare professionals through COVID-19 infection. To address this problem, the following paper will be organized around three sections. In the first section, we will start by studying and comparing the impact of the COVID-19 in the world and in the UAE. In the second section, we will move to discuss more specifically the impact of COVID-19 on the health institutions in UAE. The last section will be reserved to the empirical investigation in which we will focus on studying how the hospitals managed the pandemic, especially regarding their role with the regular patients and their fight against the COVID-19.KeywordsCOVID-19Health InstitutionsNormal and COVID patients
