Abstract
Horticultural occupations provide therapeutic, rewarding employment for persons with intellectual disabilities. There are jobs available in this growing industry for reliable employees, especially if they are trained. Persons with intellectual disabilities have proven themselves capable of skills sufficient for employment in the industry. Employers' ignorance of the abilities of the disabled in this field must be overcome so that persons with intellectual disabilities may fill an important need in the horticulture industry while gaining the benefits of occupational and horticultural therapy for themselves.
