Abstract

Ovariectomy, orchidectomy and replacement therapy with testosterone propionate and estradiol-17β resulted in differential sex alterations in the activity of brain sRNA methylase in deermice, Peromyscus maniculatus bairdii . In declining order of effect, the 5 regions of the brain were: cerebellum, hypothalamus, amygdala, frontal cortex and hippocampus. Generally, the presence of estrogen induced a reduction while testosterone induced an increase in enzyme activity.
