Abstract
This article examines the actions taken by the US Department of the Army to respond to acts of terrorism using Weapons of Mass Destruction. Presently Army assets are being focused on assisting local governments deal with a chemical agent release. The author argues that this is an unrealistic approach. The affects of such an attack on a civilian population within the Continental United States (CONUS) will dissipate long before any force can arrive on the scene. Using data from Centers for Disease Control study of an aerosol release of anthrax bacilli, Colonel Gross shows the real need is reinforcing local hospitals.
