Abstract

Differentiated models of care for HIV treatment are now well established in South Africa. The National Adherence Guidelines for HIV, tuberculosis, and non-communicable diseases clearly outline policy and service-delivery procedures for a number of models.1,2 While some models are targeted at children and adolescents or those patients who are struggling with adherence or who have disengaged with care, most models include only adult patients who have successfully navigated HIV services for 6 months or more and are considered to be established on antiretroviral therapy (ART).
